WHERE DOES THE RADIO TRAINING TAKE PLACE ?

Radio Training takes place in state of the art modern radio studios based at The 7Waves Media Centre in Leasowe, using radio industry standard equipment we have two fully operational radio studios with Myriad computer software and 12 channel mixer, microphones and CD players.
The I.T suite is equipped with 16 computers and there is room for a total of
16 students on each radio course.

WHO ARE THE RADIO TUTORS?

PAUL - Wirral Met/7Waves & W.E.A Tutor
Paul started working in radio in the 80’s and has worked in both BBC local radio and Independent Local Radio. He was a main presenter at Marcher Sound Radio Group in the 90’s working on Marcher Gold, MFM, and Marcher Coast FM. He set up the Radio Production Course in 1997, and has been teaching radio for the past 12 years.

ANDY- W.E.A Tutor
Andy comes from a music background and writes and produces his own music, Andy specialises in I.T and teaches the Adobe Audition editing part of the course. He has been teaching for the W.E.A for the past 12months.

WHEN DO THE RADIO COURSES RUN?
Radio courses run for 10 weeks and include an Introduction to Radio course
Every Wednesday 10.00am – 12noon which is a taster course no previous radio experience is required.

We also run a Radio Production course on Thursday from 9.30am to 4.00pm which includes production presentation skills and editing. No previous radio experience is necessary but the course is a little more in depth. Night courses are available 7-9pm.

We run three Introduction to Radio courses and Three Radio Production courses a year starting in September, January and April each year.

WHEN IS THE NEXT RADIO COURSE ?
The next Introduction to Radio course is starting soon and we are currently taking names for that course so if your interested in a place on this course contact us on 637 3790 or email paul.smith@7waves.co.uk

WHAT WILL I LEARN ?
On the Intro to Radio course half day per week you will learn about all aspects of the radio industry from the history of radio in Britain to OFCOM rules and regulations PRS/PPL guidelines and actual radio presentation skills in the studio.

The Radio Production Course one day per week is more in depth and again covers History of radio, OFCOM rules and regulations PRS/PPL also RAJAR and advertising codes of practice and production and presentation skills in the morning session. The afternoon session covers editing using Adobe Audition software
Where you will learn to edit your own work.

HOW WILL I LEARN?

There are no exams to sit and all the work is assessed by the tutors throughout the course, handouts are provided by the tutors and you are expected to keep a portfolio of your work along with a CD copy of any presentation and editing you have done on the course.
